For the past several years the famous Glen Helen Raceway has played host to the WMA season opener. This past May it was the case once again as the 2007 AMA/WMA Womenıs National Motocross Championship presented by Kawasaki started along side the Glen Helen Prequel. The Glen Helen race is one of the few WMA events where the WMA has the opportunity to run multiple women's amateur classes giving female motocrossers a rare chance to race against the same skill level, or similar bike, or age (the other race is the WMA Cup in November with 16 different women's classes). This year on race day only the WMA racers and AMA Pro men racers were on the track. The notoriously rough track, which is one of the most challenging on the men's AMA pro racing circuit, was quoted as being in the "best condition" some of the WMA pro racers had ever seen. The WMA had a great turnout and exciting races in nearly every class. Take a look at the top five overall finisher's in each of the Amateur classes. You can find results at http://www.wmaracing.com/results_2007.html
Also, special thanks to sponsors Kawasaki, Girlyz, Honda Riders Club of America, Drill Tech Drilling, VP Fuels, Dunlop Tires, Polisport, Powermadd, Alpinestars, Hitachi, Thor MX Gear, and ZLT Racing for supporting the WMA. |
