AMA Women’s Class Structure Change in 2008 AMA Rulebook

AMA’s Amateur Motocross Manager Ryan Holliday gave us the heads up on the women’s class structure change for 2008. We’d thought that we would pass it along to our readers. Instead of being listed as just one class, 12 yrs and up (80cc and up) as it has been for several years,  the women’s amateur classes will appear in the 2008 AMA Sports rulebook like this:

                    Women 12 yrs + (99cc-250cc) Min. rear wheel 16in. / Min. front wheel 19in.
Girls 9-15 yrs (80cc-105cc) Max rear wheel 16in. / Max front wheel 19in.

Women’s Amateur classes at the WMA Nationals will be determined by the individual track promoter. Check back to the WMA website or check the track’s website for class structure. The WMA Cup will continue to have multiple women’s classes.

The Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National women’s classes (as posted on www.mxsports.com) re:

                Girls 9-13yrs (65-112cc) Max. Wheels: Front 17"; Rear 16"
Women (99-250cc) Min. Wheels: Front 19"; Rear 16"
