Volentir Victorious in Vegas
World AX Amateur Championship Finals

By CT Robinson

Main Event Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 - MGM Grand, Las Vegas

As the gates dropped, Sun Kawasaki/MSR mounted Lauren Volentir came out swinging on her KX250F immediately taking advantage of a holeshot opportunity.  Upon exiting the first turn, Thor rider Rochelle Charnowski on her YZ250F was keeping Volentir honest while battling for the lead position.  “I wanted to grab the holeshot and not look back” says Volentir.  Closely trailing the two front runners, 2006 amateur AX champion, UFO rider April Roper on her KX250F was charging hard fresh off a broken collarbone to maintain sight of a podium finish. As a newcomer to the U.S. Open Arenacross Finals, MSR rider Blake Keller rode strong with the front of the pack on her YZ125; demonstrating pure desire.

Volentir #611, with her eye on the prize quickly took control of the main event pulling away from the rest of the pack. “My goal was to ride smooth, consistent, and be patient” explained Volentir.  With absolute domination she grabbed the checkered flag first and became the 2007 Women’s Open Arenacross World Champion.
